The Drive for Excellence!

This year our focus at Athens Drive is the Drive for Excellence!

What we expect from ourselves largely determines the outcomes we get. In the long run, our expectations greatly determine our future.

What do I expect of you and what can you expect to get out of your class with me? Ultimately, college readiness, career readiness, higher GPAs and the highest test scores in the nation!

ENGLISH

In my English classes, every single class, you will

-  acquire a deeper understanding of literature.

-  practice analyzing literature of diverse genres (writing and speaking).

-  develop a command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage (writing and speaking).

-  develop a command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling (writing).

What kind of literature are you into? Do you like fiction or nonfiction? Have you ever read an epic? What was the last novel you read? What was the last poem you wrote?

We will be reading good lit galore, from Gothic horror to romantic sonnets, from tragedies to biographies and essays.

We will also be writing...
...taking you from where you are now, a budding genius ,/\,/\,/\,/\,/\,/\,o

...to an accomplished master writer Æ¸ÌµÌ¡ÓœÌµÌ¨Ì„Æ·
